However, Threads may never have functionality for direct messaging. For now, Adam Mosseri, head of InstagramInstagram, says he prefers to direct users to other messaging systems rather than adding yet another inbox to their smartphones. Also, if it is possible to deactivate one’s Threads account, it is not not possible to delete it without deleting his Instagram account.
