After Justice ordered preventive detention for the former director general of the Investigative Police (PDI) Sergio Muñoz, accused of having allegedly leaked secret information in different cases, the Government spokesperson, Camila Vallejo, stated that “there are indications” of a possible “collar and tie” corruption network.

“This has revealed signs of a possible collar and tie corruption network. A network that might possibly have been organized to hinder investigative work in different cases associated with corruption by the Prosecutor’s Office,” said the La Moneda spokesperson in a press conference.

Vallejo asserted that this possible network involves “not only the former director general of the PDI, an extremely relevant institution, but also former government officials and political leaders, until now, of the opposition.”

“The mere possibility that this has hindered the work of the Prosecutor’s Office is stinging,” said the Secretary of State.

The national prosecutor, Ángel Valencia, responded to Vallejo in an interview with Mega “I don’t know what information Minister Vallejo has to make a statement of that nature. If she actually has information regarding the existence of a network, she should provide it to the prosecutor in charge of the case.”
