There are 115 parks in Abu Dhabi, of which 24 are dedicated to barbecue gatherings

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, which is affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, provided 115 parks to serve the public, of which 24 were allocated for barbecue gatherings distributed on Abu Dhabi Island, its suburbs and the mainland, while it provided 20 sites in the northern Yas Park for the use of personal buckets by visitors to the park, within the framework of its commitment And its endeavor towards the happiness of society and the provision of integrated recreational facilities and civilized services. Humaid Rashid Al-Dari, Director of the Shahama Municipality Center, stressed the need for visitors to public facilities to adhere to barbecue in the designated places, in order to preserve the health and safety of everyone, and the need to leave the barbecue places clean and dispose of its waste in the places designated for gardens.

He explained that barbecuing is only allowed in the areas designated for barbecue (stone and cement grills built as barbecue places) and not in the rest of the park, and picnickers are also prohibited from barbecuing or using any ignition equipment for charcoal or wood inside the gardens where barbecue is not permitted.

He called on the public to cooperate with the municipality teams, and to adhere to all directives and instructions in the various parks, because of its positive aspect that contributes to preserving the civilized face of the capital in a manner consistent with international standards.

He pointed out that there are 20 parks in Abu Dhabi that have won the International Green Flag Award, the most prominent international standard for managing open and recreational spaces throughout the United Kingdom and around the world.

He added that this period of the year during the winter season witnesses an increase in the public’s turnout to parks, so municipality inspectors intensify their field tours, especially during official holidays, with the aim of educating the public regarding negative practices harmful to the environment and society in general, and urging them to contribute to protecting parks and green spaces.

Al-Derei pointed out that the municipality, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company “Tadweer”, provided containers for the disposal of barbecue waste and ash residue without harming green spaces and trees. And he indicated that the municipality is carrying out awareness campaigns, including broadcasting educational messages on social media platforms, sending educational text messages to maintain public facilities in several languages, and educational publications on the (Vrigna) application.
