Theodorikakos: Meeting with representatives of supermarkets, food industries and multinationals – Strict controls 2024-08-01 17:20:47

Mr. Theodorikakos made the following statement:

“Amidst difficult circumstances, the battle to reduce the cost of living continues with plan and persistence. Especially for the basic necessities of life and for food which are in the area of competence of our Ministry, as our goal is to support the average Greek family and household in all ways.

Controls are expanding and intensifying in tens of companies, hundreds of products and in e-commerce, where many violations of consumer law have been identified. We are strengthening the independent Competition Authority and working with the Regions to participate in audits. Consumers can now be better informed through the upgraded e-katanalotis app. We are firmly in contact and cooperation with entrepreneurship, as we identify with the request and expectation of citizens for social responsibility on the part of businesses.

I look forward to the July figures where there are positive signs and certainly industries and supermarkets are being asked to reduce their average profit and lower prices especially in the autumn when schools open and for many households additional expenses are required. The effort to address accuracy is comprehensive for the Government: the Ministry of Finance for the reduction of bank interest rates, the Ministry of Energy for electricity prices, the Ministry of Shipping for the prices of ferry tickets. Together, we fight every day to support the citizens.”
