Then it happens: Now there is a presentation before the auction

Today, Thursday, there is a showing of Viegård Stud by Skals before the forced auction later this month.

Anyone interested has been able to register in advance and then gain access to the property, which has been the subject of great debate since the summer of 2023, when the case of possible neglect of horses, buried horse carcasses and later a bankruptcy began.

Now the property is up for forced auction, which will take place on April 19 at the Court in Viborg.

According to the sales listing, the property at Vievej 24 has a capacity of up to 220 horses, divided into horse stalls and free range.

There are also 14 arable hectares for the property, in addition to surrounding areas divided into buildings, horse tracks, paddocks and fields with storage of “soil and other effects”, as stated in the sales statement.

Neither horses, operating equipment nor machines are included in the sale.

In addition, the description draws attention to the fact that “the buildings are in need of renovation and maintenance”, just as it also states that “the BBR owner notification cannot immediately be ascertained to be in accordance with the actual conditions on the property”.

Another thing that the prospective buyer must be aware of is that the municipality has found several conditions during environmental inspections of the property “that do not meet the environmental requirements, and which the auction buyer must therefore expect to have to put in order”, as it says.

The stud came under fire in July 2023, when a former employee at Viegård shared photos on Facebook of a number of emaciated horses. This meant that several animal welfare organizations reported John Byrialsen to the police, and several demonstrations were held in front of his stud farm.

Later in the summer, the authorities dug up 50 rotting horse carcasses from the soil on the property, and subsequently the authorities issued 35 charges for violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
