Kandahar: The Taliban publicly executed those caught in theft and unnatural relations in Afghanistan. The punishment was carried out at Ahmed Shahil Football Stadium in Kandahar on Tuesday. Nine persons involved in unnatural relations were flogged 35 to 39 times, while four persons arrested for theft had their hands amputated. The Supreme Court sentenced them.

But the Taliban has not released the incident of cutting off the hands. This was confirmed by Habnam Nasimi, Advisor to the Minister for Afghan Resettlement and Refugees in the UK. She tweeted that the punishment was carried out on charges of theft, without proper trial or other procedures, and was a gross violation of human rights.

Despite the growing opposition from the international community to the barbaric punishments carried out by the Taliban, they do not condone it. Since November 18, 2022, more than 100 people have been publicly punished in various provinces. Charges such as theft, illicit relations and violation of the code of public conduct have been charged once morest them. They were punished with 20 to 100 lashes.
