«Avatar: The Way of Water»
“Avatar” is the highest-grossing film of all time at $2.9 billion – now James Cameron is continuing the film that was released in 2009. Thirteen years have passed, and the sci-fi world has changed too: Meanwhile, former soldier Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a Na’vi himself and has started a family with Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña).
The humans no longer just target Na’vi resources, they now want to colonize the entire moon of Pandora. They are particularly following Jake, who has to flee the forest with Neytiri and their four children and seeks protection from the water clan Metkayina.
James Cameron says so
It is best to bring enough time with you to go to the cinema: the film lasts over three hours. According to US media reports, the sequel is said to have devoured around 250 to 400 million dollars.
James Cameron does not reveal exact budget figures – but the pressure is high for the film to perform well: “It has to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. That’s the threshold, then the costs are covered,” the director told GQ.
What comes next?
How it goes on will be shown at the box office: Should “Avatar: The Way of Water” flop, Cameron wants to complete the avatar world with the third part, he explains at “Slash Film”. Otherwise, a fourth and fifth film would already be planned.
“A nice morning”
Sandra (Léa Seydoux) is a single parent following the death of her husband and tries to be there for her eight-year-old daughter Linn (Camille Leban Martins) while caring for her father (Pascal Greggory), who has dementia.
When Sandra meets her old friend Clément (Melvil Poupaud), an affair develops between the two. But Clément is actually taken and does not want to leave his partner Leïla (Fejria Deliba).
Mia Hansen-Løve directed the drama and wrote the screenplay. According to her, “Un beau matin” was inspired by her father’s illness, as she reveals in a press statement.
“I was looking for meaning in what I was going through. And I wanted to explore how two opposite emotions, grief and rebirth, can dialogue with each other, how you experience them simultaneously.” According to her, the focus of the film should be love and the associated vulnerability.
“Albert Anker. Painting lessons with Raphael»
In his documentary film, Heinz Bütler examines the Swiss painter Albert Anker: he worked on his oil paintings in his studio in the Bernese Seeland, which depicted society in the late 19th century.
Endo Anaconda and art historian Nina Zimmer follow in Anker’s footsteps and get to the bottom of his art. They want to find out: What made Anker what was his motivation, what was he longing for?
«Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song»
Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” has been going around the world since its release in 1984, although the song was initially rejected by the record company. Directing duo Dayna Goldfine and Daniel Geller use this hit to portray the life of the singer-songwriter.
The film combines concert footage with diary entries, and people who have accompanied Cohen’s career share their perspective.
