Theatre: Dryer on Tour – Free Press 2024-07-17 10:22:42

Although the record of 70 consecutive years that “The Mousetrap” has been played in London is still to be reached, there is no doubt that “Hair Dryer for Murderers” is the longest-running comedy show in the Greek theater. “Studio Anthony” has been renovated and is celebrating 16 years of operation with a spartan summer tour.

Amalia Giannikou writes

Summer. Cicadas. Watermelon. Maybe some beer. Definitely need to relax. I can think of nothing more enjoyable than a show that, in every version for 16 years, makes me laugh. Thodoris Petropoulos signs the performance and adaptation of “Shear Madness” by Marilyn Abrams and Bruce Jordan, while Nikorestis Haniotakis is at the helm.

One of the greatest strengths of the play is the interaction, the fact that the audience itself decides who murdered the twisted neighbor of the hairdresser, Amalia Tsalikoglou. This theatrical structure requires quick reflexes and improvisational skill from the troupe. It is no coincidence that some of Greece’s best-known comedic talents have played these roles.

For this first summer tour, we asked the stars to answer us in 40 words how they made these now iconic roles… their own.

“Tony” by Ioannis Apergis

“Crazy”, beautiful, with a thirst for laughter and jokes… Maybe even for murder, we’ll see! The elements I bring to the role are spontaneity, as well as a similar “madness” and thirst for laughter!

“Kyria Hatzipatera” by Vassos Goulielmaki

Snobbish, rich, and arrogant woman. Luckily we don’t have anything in common, although I wouldn’t mind being rich. All characters are extreme and potential killers! And Hatzipatera would kill to avoid being discredited.

“Stavros Stavrakos” by Dimitris Makalia

A citizen who loves justice. Calm and insightful, he does not rush because he knows that the truth will triumph in the end. And when he finds himself in the dark, he is not afraid to ask anyone for help. Even from the public, as a witness to a murder!

“Leonidas Petrovas” by Alexandros Papatriandafillos

Petrova and I don’t share anything in common, yet he’s a guy I’ve met a million times in my life. The guy who says too much and does too little. Which is looking for the solution in the side streets. Opportunist and con man.

“Wisdom” by Areti Paschalis

The joy of life, full of fun for every day! What I have in common with this bright, smiling creature is humor. Sofi has large doses of naivety, appeals to blunders, and “kills” the Greek language… Or just the language?

“Panagos” by Haris Chiotis

I have loved Panagos very much, we have been in touch for a long time now. In all roles we invest and deposit aspects of our character, create contact and accompany them. Panagos carries and carries a lost romance of a truly good character.
