The reason for the delays: the schedule could not be kept, especially with regard to the stage technology. “A lot of things came together,” Franz Patay, managing director of Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, told APA. Last but not least, during a thunderstorm in the summer, water from the Wien river entered the building. As a client, your hands are tied, especially since you cannot plan for such issues in the time reserves: “We commission companies, and if these companies have delays or there is water entering, you cannot blame the client.”
The general renovation of the partially listed building – the first since 1962 – is an extremely complex structure. “Basically, it is a huge project that will be completed within a manageable delay,” emphasised Patay.
