Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited India to attend the wedding of the youngest son of the chairman of Reliance Industries, an Indian energy, telecommunications, and retail conglomerate. According to financial circles on the 12th, Chairman Lee left the country the day before and arrived in Mumbai, India, following being invited to the wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, one of the world’s 10 richest people and Asia’s richest man with $121 billion. Chairman Lee will attend the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, who comes from a wealthy Indian pharmaceutical family, at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai on that day.

Samsung Electronics exclusively supplied 4G LTE network equipment to Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Group, in 2012, and completed India’s first nationwide 4G LTE network in just two years following starting full-scale network construction in 2014. Following this, it signed a contract to supply 5G equipment worth 1 trillion won to Jio and Bharti Airtel, the first and second largest operators in India, from 2021 to 2022.

Samsung Electronics operates a smartphone factory in Noida, near New Delhi, India, and a home appliance factory in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. It also operates a research and development (R&D) center, Samsung Semiconductor Research Institute (SSIR), and a design center.
