The plot follows a couple who own a Chinese restaurant on the brink of bankruptcy. The corruption of public employees and the extortion of which they are victims pushes the sanity of both to the limit and unleashes unstoppable violence.
“From the moment I read the script, I felt that I was facing a rather interesting but complex story. It was not clear to me if it was a comedy or a drama, but the character was interesting and I immediately accepted.”, comments the protagonist, Carlos Alcantarain an interview with El Comercio.
His co-stars, Gonzalo Torres and Wendy Ramos agree that the result positively surprised them, but the latter confesses that she felt “horrified” when she received their dialogues. “ANDIt was very strange. I took a risk and accepted, although, in fact, I went to see the film praying to God”he says jokingly.
Not surprisingly, during the more than an hour and a half that the film lasts, controversial topics such as infidelity, rape and even death itself are discussed. For this reason, more than a genre, comedy is strategically placed during the plot to release tension in the most disturbing situations. “This is a different film than what we are used to seeing. It stands out for the performances and the story, but also for its photography and art direction.”, emphasizes Alcántara.
Filming took place over two months in the Dominican Republic, with the capital Star+, a platform of The Walt Disney Company. As members of the production announced, the film will soon also be able to be seen via streaming, which translates into great international exposure for Peruvian actors.
For the creator of “Asu Mare”, this is a dream come true that he has waited for a long time. “I am climbing one more step in my career to be able to work abroad in better and bigger productions. It makes me very happy.”
The popular ‘Gonzalete’ adds that the global exposure will also benefit young actors in Peru, because it opens up the possibility of making collaborative productions abroad. “LThe look of the public and the industry is important, I hope that more projects come out of this”.
The perception of the cast regarding the cinematographic commercial circuit is optimistic, although the journey is not easy. “When the door opens, people have to be ready. Now a lot of new actors are coming out and I think that’s great. Sometimes they say: ‘The same ones always come out’ [en el cine peruano]but if you don’t want to see us, there are a lot of new movies to discover”, emphasizes Ramos.
For the moment, they assure that the “Disney people” have been happy with the result. ‘Cachín’ anticipates that they contacted him once more to star in a new, even bigger project that he will announce soon. We will be expectant.
