For a quarter of a century, the US color company Pantone has annually published what it believes to be a dominant color for the coming year, which is intended to inspire designers when designing furniture and clothing. 2024 is supposed to be peachy. “This color is intended to express our longing to be close to those we love and the joy we feel when we allow ourselves to tune into ourselves and enjoy this moment of peace. It should also be a color that is warm and inviting – and conveys a message of compassion and empathy,” explains Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute in Vogue magazine.
Does this color make you pale?
“Peach Fuzz” itself is described as a “velvety, gentle peach tone whose all-encompassing character enriches the body, soul and spirit.” However, the light orange tone with its suggestive name will not suit everyone because it quickly makes light-skinned and blonde people in particular appear pale and colorless.
Pantone is best known for the internationally popular color system used as a reference in the cosmetics, fashion and graphics industries. It announced “classic blue” for 2020, gray and yellow in 2021, purple in 2022 and magenta in 2023.
