The Xbox TV app is now available for the Amazon Fire Stick

In June, Microsoft reportedly announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in at least 25 countries would be able to download the Xbox TV app on their Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max devices. Today, the app is finally available, allowing members of the service to play games without needing an Xbox console.

Taking advantage of this, Microsoft makes its philosophy of making Xbox available everywhere quite clear by not needing one of its consoles to play.

To do so, players will need to install and launch the Xbox app on their Fire TV device, sign in with their Microsoft account, sign up for Game Pass Ultimate if they haven’t already, and plug in their controller to play.

The Bluetooth wireless controllers supported in the App include the Xbox Controller, the Xbox Adaptive Controller, and even the PlayStation DualSense and DualShock 4 pads.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been on a journey to deliver cloud gaming to more devices and more people around the world,” Xbox corporate vice president of platform and experience engineering Ashley McKissick said last month.

“We’re excited to add Fire TV to our growing family of cloud gaming devices and can’t wait to welcome new players to the experience.”

What games will be available on the Xbox TV app?

Once you’re ready, you’ll have access to a wide range of games through a Game Pass Ultimate membership. Whether you’re into action-packed adventures like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, open-world exploration in Starfield, high-speed racing in Forza Horizon 5, or the post-apocalyptic thrills of Fallout 76 and Fallout 4, there’s something for everyone. Plus, free-to-play games like Fortnite are on the menu, too.

The Xbox TV app on the Amazon Fire Stick offers a convenient and affordable way to enjoy your favorite games. The compact size of the device makes it a great option for playing on the go, as long as you have a reliable internet connection and a screen available. Plus, you can start playing instantly without having to download games to the device.
