Water consumption is essential for our body. Indeed, hydration is a fundamental element for the proper functioning of our body. It is for this reason that the French consume a lot of bottles of mineral or spring water.

On the other hand, the market has different brands and the choice is often not conscious. In this regard, many wonder what are the best and worst water bottles on the market. To answer this question, the association “Agir pour l’Environnement” conducted a survey. Photo reports tell you more.

Tap water healthier than some bottled water?

According to a survey by the Agir pour l’environnement association in July 2022, seven out of nine plastic water bottles contain microplastics. “78% of water tested contains plastic microparticles”then says the association.

Acting for the Environment conducted this survey in order to “make the presence of microplastics in our drinks more visible” et “alert the public authorities on the urgency of getting out of plastic, with the priority of banning plastic bottles”.

These microparticles, which generally measure less than 5 millimeters, can be harmful to health.

Which brands were the subject of this survey?

To carry out its study, the association selected the nine bottles of mineral water, still and sparkling, the most sold in France:

– Badoit (1 l)
– Carrefour Source Monclar (33 cl)
– Crystalline,
– Evian (100% recycled bottle 50 cl and 1 l)
– Perrier (blue bottle)
– Vittel (1 l)
–Volvic (50cl)
– Vittel Kids (33 cl)

The verdict of the association Acting for the environment? It is without appeal!

Only two bottles of water do not contain microplastics

In association with the Labocea laboratory, which specializes in the study of microplastics and water quality, Agir pour l’environnement declared that only two bottles of water did not contain microplastics:

–Volvic 50cl
– Carrefour Source Montclar 33 cl

Badoit red water and Evian water are also good bottled waters. Indeed, they only contained one microplastic per litre, unlike Vittel Kids still water, the most contaminated.

Branded water bottles Volvic and Carrefour do not present microplastics, according to the study.

On the other hand, the bottles Vittel, Perrier, Evian, Cristaline and Badoit water contain one to seven microparticles per litre.

The dunce cap therefore goes to Vittel Kids water, 33 cl, with 121 microparticles per litre!

On the other hand, Agir pour l’environnement explained that there is no certainty regarding the origin of these microplastics.

But according to the association, the most probable hypothesis is that these particles of less than five millimeters would come from the plastic packaging of the water bottles, the cap or the cap.
