The worst student in the class: this is how ING customers rate their bank | MyGuide

Spaargids.beING still has a lot of work to do. Of all the financial institutions rated by their customers in a major survey, the bank received the worst score. Spaargids.be provides an overview of the results.

Between 7 and 18 November, Spaargids, Guide-épargne and the opinion poll agency iVox asked the opinion of visitors to their own online platforms Spaargids.be and Guide-épargne.be, as well as those of a number of other DPG Media channels such as hln.be and 7sur7.be.

The respondents were able to comment on the banks where they are customers. Nearly 31,000 people responded. This concerned both people who were customers of one bank and people who had accounts at several financial institutions.

Bad grades

ING did not receive a good report. Its customers sent the bank home with a rating of 5.8/10. That is the least good of all the banks that were assessed. In women (5.7) she even scored slightly less well than in men (5.9). She did get 5.9 for Dutch speakers, but she had to make do with 5.2 for French speakers.

It is striking: if a breakdown by age is made, ING achieved a score of 6.6 in the age group of 18 to 24 year olds. It is the only group in which she exceeded 6. The lowest rating of 5.6 comes from the critical group of 35 to 45 year olds.

Yet another stroke of luck: for customers who had only one bank, ING received a quote of 5.5. This was 5.8 for consumers who have accounts with several financial institutions and could therefore compare.

The office race

For the operation of the branch network, ING received a 6.2/10 from its customers. The bank even achieved a score of 7.2 among the customer group aged between 18 and 24. The age group of 55 to 64 year-olds, on the other hand, was limited to a 5.9.

The expertise of the office staff was rated as very good by 23.8% of the customers, while 45.9% considered it rather good.

The distance to the office was 58.6%. And 62.3% rated customer focus in communication positively. Compared to the opening hours, 74.0% were neutral or positive.

Digital

For digital banking, the score was ‘only’ 6.0. The bank was nevertheless one of the first traditional banks to fully adapt to the shift to digital banking.

45.5% thought the product range online was complete, 27.4% gave the thumbs up to the non-bank offer and 69% expressed satisfaction with online safety.

Savings bank

As a bank for savings, ING only received a score of 5.2 from its customers. The age group of 35 to 44 held out at 4.8, while the bank gave the bank a score of 5.4 for 18 to 24 year olds. Dutch speakers gave 5.6, French speakers 4.0.

Investment Bank

As an investment bank, ING only received a score of 5.3. The ratings ranged from 6.2 in the 18-24 age group to 5.0 in the 45-54 age group.

36.8.3% gave the thumbs up for research and market information. 26.6% did so for the online platform. And in terms of costs, ING was on the good side by 22.8%.

Finally, customer service was assessed positively by 34.9%.
