Taylor Swift, Natalie Portman, Emma Watson have already stepped up to denounce deepfake applications and more particularly the illegal use of their image and voice to promote products without their knowledge. However, an even more worrying phenomenon is on the rise: the practice of “undressing” with artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

An increase of more than 2,400%!

A report published by theagence Graphika draws a more than alarming observation. More and more sites are publishing stripped versions of images provided to them by their users. Graphika estimates the increase at 2,408% from one year to the next! Still according to this firm, the level of performance of stripping services using artificial intelligence has progressed significantly, now reaching a level described as “photorealistic”. And besides, this type of service can be charged from 2 to 300 dollars!

Graphika is surprised that some of these services do not hide their activity in any way. While some present themselves as “artistic”, others clearly assert their status as “undressing” services and shamelessly display photos of real people they claim to have “undressed” as proof.

Means of blackmail?

According to Graphika, the rise in popularity of such services misusing artificial intelligence might easily produce actions of targeted harassment, blackmail or even abusive photographs relating to children.

Counter attack for all

For celebrities, it’s time to fight back. Artist Scarlett Johansonn has decided to sue Lisa AI, a deepfake service that allowed her cloned image and voice to be used to promote a product once morest her will. And abuse linked to singer Drake and actor Tom Hanks has prompted US lawmakers to address the general issue of deepfake with a view to protecting the images of such stars.

Actresses and actors are not the only ones affected: popular streamers like QTCinderella have been impacted by the phenomenon of artificial stripping. After putting the case in the hands of a law firm, Morrison Rothman, QTCinderella encouraged other streamers to follow her in this fight.

Quid simple individuals who would suffer such affronts and would not have the means to defend themselves? All they have to do is hope for the rapid adoption of legal measures. The European Union has already announced that it wants to demand the removal of all illegal content on the main pornographic sites. The time has come to go much further!
