The world’s most popular game has finally been rolled out to the Google Play Store

Fortnite, one of the most popular games in the world, can finally be installed from the Google Play Store.

After 18 months of third-party software releases, Epic Games has finally made it available to Android users on the Google Play Store.

Epic Games says this is due to Google warning users about third-party software about security issues that don’t exist, while treating software outside of the Play Store as malware.

According to the statement released by the company, “After a year and a half of operating Fortnite for Android sets outside of the Google Play Store, we have come to realize that Google has not treated software outside of Google Play fairly.” Additionally, it takes technical and business measures such as warning users through frequent security pop-ups and equating third-party software sources with malware’.

For these reasons, Epic has now released the game on the Google Play Store and will now pay Google 30 percent on in-app purchases.

Epic Games has been heavily criticized for charging excessive fees to developers on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store, and for that reason the game was not even released on the Google Play Store.

Epic Games has been pushing for Fortnite to be added to the Google Play Store since its debut on Android in August 2018 and has been self-distributing since then.

According to Nine to Five Google, Epic’s request to make the game part of the Play Store would require a special exception to bypass the 30 percent payout rule.

Fortnite is a free-to-play game whose developers make all of their revenue through the purchase of tools to play it.

Google, on the other hand, said that Epic did not seek such exemption for Apple’s App Store where it was added last year and is paying a 30 percent fee.

Now Epic Games has made Fortnite part of the Play Store on Google’s terms.
