The World Muay Thai Championship in Patras – Peletidis Meeting with the Federation – 2024-03-20 13:28:00

The Mayor of Patreon, Kostas Peletidis, received, today (Tuesday 19 March) at noon, in his Office at the Town Hall, the visit of the President of the Panhellenic Muay Thai Federation, Ioannis Papadopoulos and the Patreon Muay Thai athlete, Dimos Asimakopoulos.

The Deputy Mayor for Sports, Takis Petropoulos, was present at the meeting.

During the discussion, there was talk of organizing the Muay Thai World Championship in Patras, at the beginning of this summer.

After the meeting, the President of the Panhellenic Federation, I. Papadopoulos, stated:

“It was with great pleasure that we met today with the Mayor, Mr. Costas Peletidis and the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Mr. Taki Petropoulos, in order to discuss issues related to the organization of the Muay Thai World Championship in the historic city of Patras and I am really happy to cooperate with people who have love and passion for the city and sports”.

For his part, the Greek athlete with many awards in several international championships, D. Asimakopoulos, said:

“The feeling I feel is incomparable as the sports Olympiad comes to our city, Patras and I am given the opportunity, once once more, to represent our country and the city with the aim of bringing a medal to Patras. I thank the Panhellenic Federation and the State for the support they provide and I thank the Municipality for the sports facilities it has secured for the city”.

The men’s and women’s Muay Thai world championships will take place at the “Tofalos” indoor sports center from May 31 to June 10.

It will be preceded, in the ten days from May 20 to 30, by a training camp of the Greek National Muay Thai for men and women in Patras, which, by the officials of the sport, as the President of the Federation said, was considered, due to its many sports facilities and the existence of the municipal hostel, suitable for the preparation of Greek athletes.
