The International Association of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) is calling on the Muslim world to immediately take Arab-Islamic action to counter Israel’s military operations in Gaza and Lebanon. There is a need for an emergency meeting to take a firm stance that can stop Israel’s brutality.

IUMS Chairman Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi urged the Islamic and Arab world to hold an emergency summit to address Zionist aggression. He warned that Israel’s actions not only target Gaza and Lebanon, but also pose a broader threat to all Arab and Islamic capitals and countries.

Al-Qaradaghi emphasized the need for unity throughout the Muslim world, and stated that political or sectarian differences should not hinder collective action against the Zionist project. He said Israel did not discriminate against Muslims when carrying out genocide against them and Muslims should not be divided on this matter.

He argued that the ongoing conflict affects all Muslims and called for support for Gaza, including military, economic and humanitarian assistance. Al-Qaradaghi also suggested that Muslim countries consider economic measures, such as stopping oil and gas exports and cutting diplomatic ties with Israel, to press for an end to the aggression.

Al-Qaradaghi further criticized the inaction, asserting that silence in the face of Israeli policies only worsens the suffering of the people of the region.

“What we are witnessing today from the attacks on Lebanon and Gaza is an attack on the dignity of our people and land, and must not be allowed to continue,” he said, reported by Anadolu, Tuesday (24/9).

The Israeli army attacked more than 300 targets across Lebanon since Monday (23/9) morning, marking the heaviest bombardment since the start of hostilities last October 8. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least 182 people had been killed and 727 others injured in Israeli attacks since morning.

Tensions are rising between Hezbollah and Israel following a deadly airstrike on Friday that killed at least 45 people, including children and women, and injured dozens more in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Hezbollah confirmed that at least 16 of its members, including senior leader Ibrahim Aqil and top commander Ahmed Wahbi, were killed in the Israeli attack. The attack came two days after at least 37 people were killed and more than 3,000 injured in two waves of wireless communications equipment explosions in Lebanon.

While the Lebanese government and Hezbollah blamed Israel for the blast, Tel Aviv did not deny or confirm its involvement. Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 41,400 people, mostly women and children, following cross-border attacks by Hamas last October.
