The women’s four saved a lot for Tamara Csipes

The series of kayak-canoe competitions started well. The men’s foursome (Bence Nádas, Kolos Csizmadia, István Kuli, Sándor Tótka) finished in second place behind Serbia in their very first race at the Olympics, thus saving themselves from having to row one more time on Tuesday, and made it to Thursday’s intermediate race. Another question is whether, in the case of eleven units, why so many rounds are needed until the eighth final, which will also be held on Thursday.

The ten women’s foursome were not condemned to the same fate, the Hungarian unit composed of Noémi Pupp, Sára Fojt, Tamara Csipes, and Dóra Gazsó Alida reached the final straight away by finishing in second place behind the Germans in their Tuesday morning race, even though they were 100 meters before the finish line. he was still in fourth place in the intermediate race.

Tamara Csipes triples at the Olympics

Skipping the “unnecessary” races in women’s kayak is also particularly important, because we only obtained four quotas in this discipline, i.e. all members of the four will compete in twos, and Csipes and Gazsó will do triples at the Olympics.

According to our expert, Ákos Vereckei, Tamara Csipes’s best chance of winning is the singles, which means that reaching the foursomes final on Tuesday helped her the most.

In the two-person kayak, however, both our units were forced to run for hope, i.e. in this number, we failed to save energy for the continuation.

Adolf Balázs and Jonatán Hajdu finished their preliminary race in fourth place in the men’s canoe duo, so they too will have to row one more time on Tuesday, just as Ágnes Kiss and Bianka Nagy also made it to the race of hope in the women’s event.

The pair of Bálint Kopasz and Ádám Varga also introduced themselves

The pair of Nádas and Tótka rowed for the first time among our men’s kayak doubles on Tuesday, and with their second place in the race, this unit also immediately reached the middle race.

Bálint Kopasz and Ádám Varga will be our two singles starters, as they did three years ago in Tokyo, where they brought home the gold and silver.

However, this time they also teamed up for the doubles, and they also entered the semi-finals with second place, skipping the hope race.
