The WOM eSIM is reusable for use on another device without the need to request a new one

A few weeks ago, the operator WOM gave away eSIMs for the second time so that users can try this technology and at the same time access the WOM network totally free and with 5G access.

But this WOM eSIM differs from those provided by other operators in Chile, since it can be reused and changed on the devices you want, as long as they are compatible with eSIM technology.

On the WOM website where they gave away the eSIMs, there is a section in the “Frequently Asked Questions” section and there we can see the following question with its respective answer:

We were finding out more regarding the subject and we wanted to do the test of transferring our eSIM from one device to another, and these were our results.

Moving eSIM from one device to another

I personally had an eSIM from WOM that they gave away for future use and I activated it on a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 that has eSIM support and the activation was successful.

Checking with our sources, for the process of moving the eSIM to another device to be successful, we have to remove our eSIM from the device (Z Flip 4) from the corresponding menu and following the steps on the screen.

It is essential to first remove the eSIM from the device and we have to do the process with an internet connection so that the device sends a signal to the server, recording that the eSIM was removed from the device. In this way, the QR code can be used once more.

Once the eSIM has been removed from the Z Flip 4, we proceed to look for the email that WOM sent us at the beginning with the QR code to activate the eSIM and we scan it with an iPhone 13 Pro Max with a Wi-Fi internet connection.

After a few seconds, the eSIM that we had activated on the Z Flip 4 is now active on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Summary

  • Remove the eSIM from the old device with an internet connection from its respective menu.
  • Have the QR code of our eSIM handy.
  • Scan the QR code on our new device with an internet connection.
  • Enjoy our eSIM on our new device.

You can make the change as many times as you want. But beware, it is ESSENTIAL to remove the eSIM from the old device with internet available. If you don’t remove the eSIM, the QR code will remain locked for security reasons.

When will the WOM eSIM arrive definitively?

For now we do not have an exact date, but without a doubt there must be very little left to be officially marketed. When that happens, we will be informing you here.

We do not know if the first eSIMs that were given away in April 2021 are reusable or not.
