CD Projekt confirms that the long-awaited remake of The Witcher (2007) produced under Unreal Engine 5 will be an open world!

This is an official announcement that made the hearts of CD Projekt fans vibrate, the Polish studio with a good reputation. Or at least who has earned a reputation by picking up the pieces of Cyberpunk 2077. After the announcement from a remake to the excellent The Witcherwhich still deserves a bit of modernity, CD Projekt formalizes the open world aspect of the future title. A game developed under Unreal Engine 5.

“An offline game and an open world RPG”

CD Projekt abandons its REDengine graphics engine, used in particular for Cyberpunk 2077, for Unreal Engine 5. A tool used for the future The Witcher 4 but also the remake of the first episode. What to give the mouth water to the players since we imagine that the studio will rest on the solid foundations laid by The Witcher 3. Except that this time, CD Projekt adds an open world component.

Information relayed by IGN which explains that during its last financial statement, CD Projekt described this project as “an offline game and an open world RPG”.

An unsurprising change. Cyberpunk 2077 marries the “true” open world. On imagine que le studio wants to continue in this direction. Not to mention that it is a very popular element of current games. The first The Witcher wasn’t open-world.

We also imagine that with more freedom in terms of map, CD Projekt will allow itself to add great new additions to his game. It remains to be seen what the studio intends to modify. The gameplay, the story, variations of the story, additional quests?

Obviously, it is too early to judge the elements of a project of which we know almost nothing. If only it is of an open world remake made under Unreal Engine 5. It remains to wait for CD Projekt to give us more information regarding this promising new adaptation.

And CD Projekt messed up on Cyberpunk 2077 launch, no one is going to argue that the studio isn’t doing excellent job!
