The Witcher 4: Game Director announced + exclusive to the Epic Games Store?

Since yesterday the development of the next The Witcher is official. Today more info bits regarding the great RPG hopefuls from CD Projekt RED followed.

The game director for the new game project at cult developer CD Projekt RED is now officially set – and he didn’t act as such in the last RPG parts. It’s Jason Slama, who previously held the post of game director on the trading card spin-off Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has completed, insofar as is at least familiar with the franchise.

Slama himself confirmed via Twitter, that he will lead the development team for the next The Witcher, which will herald a new saga and therefore may not focus on Geralt of Rivia. Further information such as the planned platforms or a release period is not yet available.

Another circumstance caused a lot of speculation: CD Projekt RED cooperates closely with Epic Games for the game and technically relies on the Unreal Engine 5. Will the PC version of the next The Witcher therefore also be available exclusively in the Epic Games Store and possibly avoid the popular Steam platform?

Despite the multi-year partnership with Epic Games, Steam fans can sleep peacefully, because it will not come to that. “We don’t plan to make the game exclusive to just one store,” the developers said in a reply via Twitter. In this respect, the previous route should also be followed with the new The Witcher. CD Projekt RED has always offered its own games on Steam as well as in the Epic Games Store and in the in-house store GOG.com.
