Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red announced that la version next-gen de The Witcher 3 wouldn’t be out by this summer, as originally planned. The Polish studio has indicated that development will be considered active ” until further notice“, which in itself can be a pretty bad sign.
More Michael Nowakowskiwho bears the prestigious title of senior vice president of business development at CD Projekt, nevertheless insisted on nuances things : ” I read headlines [d’articles, ndlr] here and there on the Internet, which hint that the game is in a hellish state of development. I mean it’s not. There have been a lot of rumors that the launch was scheduled for June next year or something. This is absolutely not the case« .
It is true that several media have taken it upon themselves to announce that this next-gen version will be released in 2023… or nothing of the kind was announced by CD Projekt. The window for the second quarter of 2022 is certainly no longer relevant, but the second semester is not excluded. Nowakowski’s precision is therefore aimed at the media who have advanced a little without concrete proof.
During the call to investors which gave rise to this clarification, Adam Kicinski also wanted to show confidence. The studio’s co-CEO indicated that there was only ” not a lot of work to accomplish, and that regarding fifteen people were working on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt. What should be remembered, then, is that some media sometimes take liberties with official information to transform their opinion into facts. And that’s not cool.

It is Saber Interactive who is in charge of development – or rather was in charge; the studio, acquired by THQ Nordiq in 2020, has many offices in Russia. So much by situation delicate that positions policies (Poland was one of the countries to oppose most vehemently the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation), it seems relatively logical that CD Projekt Red preferred gather most of his project in known lands.
We therefore hope that the development of this next-gen version will take place within best conditions possible, in order to offer us the most qualitative content possible. Yes the first extension of Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed to 2023it is still possible that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 be available this year. As a reminder, it will bring many improvements graphics and the ray tracingwhich suggests that the already magnificent game will reach an even more incredible quality!
