In a tweet to celebrate The Witcher 3’s seventh anniversary, CD Projekt Red revealed, “We’re excited to share that the next release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is slated to release in the fourth quarter of 2022.” This means that the free update is now expected to arrive sometime between October to December 2022. Hopefully, the next generation release will not be delayed once more.
The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition will be a free update for players who already own the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. The new update will have ray tracing, faster load times and allow you to play RPG at 4K 60fps. The next generation version of The Witcher 3 will also get full support for DualSense controllers and Xbox Series X | S. The update will likely collect all DLC available as a full version.
CD Projekt Red is currently working on the next Witcher game along with the next generation update of Witcher 3. Although not much is known regarding Witcher 4, the developer has revealed that the game was built using the Unreal Engine 5. from Epic Games. CD Projekt Red has previously built games on its REDengine technology since The Witcher 2. More details regarding Witcher 4 will be announced soon.
