Game news The Witcher 3: PS5 and Xbox Series versions trapped in “hellish development”?

Almost a year and a half following the release of new machines from Sony and Microsoft, the PS5 and the Xbox Series, some games launched on previous consoles are missing. If Grand Theft Auto 5 caught up on its delay last March, one of CD Projekt’s biggest games, namely The Witcher 3, has still not settled on the next-gen. The fault of a more than chaotic development?
A bad pass for The Witcher 3?
Prisoners of a series of bad news, the CD Projekt teams had to force themselves to announce The Witcher 3 release delay on PS5 et Xbox Series. This umpteenth communication around this next-gen version of the game was accompanied by little information on a possible release window, the studio contenting itself only with indicating a postponement “until further notice”. An announcement not necessarily reassuring, it is true, but CD Projekt quickly communicated on some pretty spectacular numbers regarding the license The Witcher to balance it all out!
We are reassured, the franchise is doing very well and, as the Polish studio also revealed, it is not regarding to end up in oblivion since many projects are currently in the works of the society. Would this be a way of drowning the fish and camouflage the identical reproduction of the pattern of development of Cyberpunk 2077 ? No, CD Projekt does seem to have learned from past mistakes, and the company’s senior vice president of business development says so!
The PS5 and Xbox Series versions are progressing serenely at their own pace
The few data shared by the Polish company yesterday follow a conference call with investors in order to comment on the previous fiscal year, and thus share the results of the latter. It was from there that Michał Nowakowski spoke regarding the conditions for the development of the version PS5 et Xbox Series from The Witcher 3following having seen some titles of articles within the news of the video game.
I looked at the titles that popped up here and there on the internet, and I saw one that really caught my eye, which was ‘Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely’, which makes it seem like the game is in a kind of hellish development. I would like to clarify that this is not the case. There have been a lot of hints that we are planning to launch the game in June next year or something like that. It is not the case at all. — Michał Nowakowski, Senior Vice President of Business Development at CD Projekt
All we’re saying is that we took care of the development of the game in-house, and it will be completed in-house. We evaluate our time, which requires a bit of investigation – that’s all we’re saying. Nobody is saying that the game is delayed with a monumental lag (…) I really want to emphasize this fact. — Michał Nowakowski, Senior Vice President of Business Development at CD Projekt
For his part, Adam Kicinski, co-CEO of CD Projekt, went one better by talking regarding the current state of the next-gen version. According to him, there isn’t a huge amount of work to do on the upgrade and due to future studio plans only 15 employees are working on getting this build done right for PS5 et Xbox Seriesso as not to encroach on subsequent developments: the extended delays finally find their explanation!
