The wind overturns a plane at a Florida airfield

Miami.– One person died and another was injured and was hospitalized as a result of the overturning of the executive plane in which they were going to take off from an airfield in Orlando (Florida) due to a wind storm, official sources reported.

A spokesman for the Orlando Executive Airport told local media on Friday that a Diamond DA42 Twin Star plane with two people on board overturned Thursday followingnoon while on the taxiway.

Another plane that was parked with no one on board also turned over in the wind. which with gusts of 62 miles per hour (99 km/h) also caused damage to hangars and other airport structures.

When they arrived at the scene of the accident, firefighters found one person dead and another who was taken to the hospital for trauma.

“There was evidence that planes that were parked were moving in the wind,” said Orlando Executive Airport Director and Air Traffic Controller, Judith-Ann Jarretteal canal local WESH.

“The plane that had taxied to take off was waiting and unfortunately that system moved so fast, it was so severe with very strong gusts of wind, that it flipped the plane over.”

La National Transportation Safety Board conduct an investigation into the accident.
