For the Biden administration, this 2nd USA-Africa Summit aims at « put the continent back at the heart of global diplomacy”… We already know that new investments will be announced. Thus, from a source from the National Security Council of the White House, « lhe United States will commit $55 billion to Africa over the next three years”.

From an economic point of view, particular attention will be given to AGOA (Africa Grows and Opportunity Act), set up in 2000 and expiring in 2025. This agreement aims to “facilitate African exports to the United States to support economic development”. Under this agreement, more than 1,800 African products can benefit from import tax reductions. According to some experts, “this agreement could be optimized at this summit to take advantage of Africa’s growing integration ». During this 2nd USA-Africa Summit, the AGOA ministerial meeting will be organized by the American Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, with trade ministers and senior officials from sub-Saharan Africa, in particular.

While waiting to learn more, here is the program for December 13, 14 and 15, 2022 in Washington District of Columbia. The schedule is local (+8 for Madagascar).
