I don’t understand the attacks on the non-objectivity of the Peche zela zemje competition. I myself did not find any such on the Facebook page of this show. On the other hand, in such a format it is impossible to talk regarding absolutely strict justice and objectivity. None of us viewers have tasted the creations, most don’t even know what they should taste like. Should they be more brittle or pliable? Firmer or fluffier? We can’t even smell them. We can only evaluate the appearance. And everyone has different tastes. One person likes wild and colorful creations, the other more deliberate and elegant. The judges apparently evaluate the products according to their ideas of how they should look in a real professional pastry shop, but on the other hand, they are also people and have their own tastes, which can be reflected in the evaluation. A creative challenge is not a mathematical problem where the results are clear and measurable.
In addition, for the technical challenge, the jury evaluates the creations without having any idea who they belong to. So how might she purposely sideline someone? The Masterchef Czech Republic has, for example, a much larger space for some cramming. The judges always know whose food they are tasting. And speaking of Masterchef, there are sometimes measurable tasks following all. They recognize raw materials by taste, or smell, or mushrooms, or fish. And we can say to ourselves, alas, what kind of cook is this, he has never cooked with mushrooms, following all, he doesn’t even know a boletus. But it’s not a baking competition. There is no measurable discipline. And what we see, how well someone is doing, how fast he is, what he messes up, throws away and does once more, or on the contrary, he has already finished and the others are not keeping up, all of this is largely decided by the editing. The editing works wonders and can present the contestants in the way that is appropriate for the greatest possible audience, many times to the detriment of one or to the improvement of the other.
By that I mean, of course, that we don’t even see into it, not only that we don’t taste the creations. So I have no idea why you shouldn’t trust the jury.
And why did the program Bake the whole country find so many viewers? Maybe they are just attracted by the calm dimension of the competition. Everyone is polite and nice to each other, the contestants help each other and you can see that they are really close to each other. It’s like a caress to the soul. The screens exude a sense of well-being, and I also love the interspersed with calm shots of a blooming garden. After a busy week, it’s a nice moment of relaxation.
And as I already wrote. I didn’t find any criticism on the show’s Facebook pages. The spectators are satisfied with the final three, but they wish Vojt the victory. I personally wish victory to the best.
