The White House denies being behind the Nord Stream pipeline explosion

The White House said that the information released by American journalist Seymour Hersh regarding the Nord Stream pipeline explosion was “false and fictitious”.

According to Archyde.com, on February 8 (local time), Seymour Hersh, a reporter for The New York Times, accused Washington of being behind the Nord Stream pipeline explosion last month. September 2022.

“In June 2022, during NATO’s BALTOPS 22 exercise, US Navy divers planted remote-controlled explosives under the Nord Stream pipeline. Three months later, these explosives were planted. triggered by a signal sent from a sonar sonar. The explosion caused severe damage to three pipelines,” said Mr. Hersh.

According to the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, the administration of President Joe Biden sees disrupting Nord Stream operations as key to enticing allies to increase aid to Ukraine. In addition, the operation was supported by the Norwegian navy and intelligence agency.

On the White House side, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson denied the allegation. Ms Watson insisted that the information Mr. Hersh gave was “false and completely fictitious”.

In addition, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) said that Mr. Hersh’s information was “completely false”. The US and Norwegian State Departments also simultaneously denied the allegation.

On the Russian side, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said that he has not received any new information regarding who is behind the Nord Stream pipeline explosion. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the US has a lot to answer regarding the incident.
