The White House announces the shooting down of a “flying object” that flew over Alaska

The White House announced, on Friday, that US forces shot down a “flying object at high altitude” over the state of Alaska.

“The unidentified object fell near the northeastern part of Alaska, near Canada,” White House spokesman John Kirby said.

The spokesman stated that this “object” was at an altitude of 40 thousand feet, and posed a threat to air navigation.

He added, “I am not aware of communicating with the Chinese following another object fell near Alaska,” noting that the US administration received an alert for the first time regarding this object on Thursday night.

The spokesman highlighted that the unidentified object is “the size of a small car,” adding, “We expect the object to be recovered following it lands in US territorial waters.

The source of this body is not yet known, while Archyde.com news agency said that the downing operation was carried out by an American fighter.

And the FAA closed parts of the airspace over northern Alaska to support Department of Defense operations.

Last week, the US military carried out an operation to shoot down a Chinese balloon, which had been flying for several days over the US sky.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the Chinese airship was shot down by a fighter jet off the coast of South Carolina.
