The Whale won two awards at the 2023 Academy Awards: Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
American actor Brendan Fraser won the Best Actor Oscar for “The Whale” at the awards ceremony on Sunday.
Brendan Fraser, following winning the award, said: “I thank A24 for producing such a bold film… I am grateful to director Darren Aronofsky and writer Samuel Hunter.”
Brendan Fraser beat actor Austin Butler, who was nominated for the award for Elvis, and also international actor Colin Farrell, who was nominated for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin, and international actor Paul Mescal, who was nominated for Aftersun, and also Bill Nye, who was nominated for Living.
The Whale team also won the award for best makeup and hairstyling at the 2023 Oscars, following they succeeded in transforming actor Brendan Fraser into Charlie, the depressed person with a full body.
The team is joined by Aronofsky once more and cinematographer Matthew Lipatek, who also shot the Venetian premiere of Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t worry darling.” Matthew Lipatek has shot every Aronofsky film to date, except for “The Wrestler,” where Maryse worked. Alberti as cinematographer.
