The west is also a muddy field… Songdo, Busan, turned into ruins

Songdo, Busan, with tall buildings right in front of the sea, suffered the same damage as when the Marine City flooded 6 years ago.

Although we thoroughly prepared for the news of an unprecedented typhoon coming, it was not enough to prevent damage such as broken windows and torn asphalt.

Reporter Song Kwang-mo will tell you.

Waves cross the breakwater and hit the coastal road.

As the seawater rushes to the entrance of the apartment, the startled citizens step back.

This is a picture of Songdo, Seo-gu, Busan, when Typhoon Hinnamno headed north.

It is impossible to even tell where the road is and which is the sidewalk on the coastal road without seawater.

He mobilized heavy equipment to restore work all day, but to no avail.

Even this thick asphalt road was literally torn like a piece of paper.

As you can see due to the weight of the waves that came over, this street lamp was completely crushed.

All the windows of the shopping mall on the first floor of the apartment, located just 20 meters from the breakwater, were broken.

Large trees, sand and rocks were swept away, and the inside of the building was turned into a swampy field.

“(The power outage) There is no water purifier at all and nothing works. This is the first time, we. We lived in a hot spring and moved here. I was scared, so I was really scared last night.”

Seaside sushi restaurants and shops stretching over a kilometer were also damaged.

The fishbowl of the sushi restaurant was lying on the sidewalk, and all the products on display were swept away by the waves.

When I heard the news that an unprecedented typhoon was coming, I hit the wall to the end of the entrance and prepared for it, but to no avail.

“(To stop the waves) I built a pole here and made a very thick plank, one, three, or four. But that’s not enough.”

Shops in front of the beach suffered flood damage as the drainage channels were covered with sand due to the overflowing waves.

“It’s all blocked, the drain. It’s the lowest area in front of our house in Songdo. Even when I suggested several times to make a large manhole, they said, ‘I’ll do it, I’ll do it’ and ‘I’ve changed the person in charge’.”

Last night, the 10m high wave brought by the typhoon recreated the coastal disaster again in the east and west as it was 6 years ago.
