It has started an investigation into the cases of ‘mass murder’ against them during the student movement.

Bangladeshi media later reported that 450 people were killed during the violent protests, most of them killed by police firing.

Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) was established by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid in 2010 to investigate atrocities committed against Pakistan during the war of independence. Under Hasina Wajid’s rule, the crime tribunal sentenced more than 100 people to death, including many of her political opponents.
It should be noted that Sheikh Hasina’s loyalists are being removed from positions from top to bottom in Bangladesh, while the interim government has decided not to hold elections until the cleaning process is completed.
The head of the interim government, Dr. Yunus, has said that elections will be held only after major reforms are made in the Election Commission, Judiciary, Civil Administration, Security Forces and Media. During the reforms, the loyalists of Sheikh Hasina Wajid are being removed in various sectors of Bangladesh.
The latest development is that the caretaker government has now removed all the 493 sub-district chairmen. Sub-districts in Bangladesh have the same importance as Tehsils in Pakistan. Sub-district chairmen have been removed and the responsibilities have been given to executive officers.
