The Israeli army continued its land offensive combined with air and sea strikes in the Gaza Strip, on the 26th day of the war between Israel and Hamas caused by a massacre committed on October 7 by the terrorist organization. Israeli troops, which entered Palestinian territory last Saturday, are moving faster than expected, in a combat zone devastated by bombings. According to some sources, they would have arrived on Wednesday at the gates of Gaza City.

Fighting in the landlocked territory led, on Tuesday, the death of 16 Israeli soldiers and “dozens” of Hamas fighters. Observation and missile launch posts were destroyed.

The Rafah crossing, between Gaza and Egypt, was opened on Wednesday to evacuate, for the first time, hundreds of foreigners and dual nationals, as well as wounded Palestinians.

According to sources cited by the Jerusalem Post, this war might last “several months”, and not “a few weeks” as initially estimatedin the form of combined land, air and maritime operations, of less intensity than current combat.
