True to its principle of highlighting new talents, DISFF welcomes to its team the Dramatic graphic designer Konstantinos Pavlidis, who designed this year’s visual identity of the 47th Drama Festival.

Taking over from Dimitris Papazoglou / Designer, DpS Athens and DISFF Head of Branding, who gave the Festival its new “face” in keeping with the visual language of a new digital world that is constantly changing, K. Pavlidis presents a series of variations on this year’s DISFF poster inspired by film frames.

The artistic director of the Drama Festival, Yiannis Sakaridis, welcomes with great joy a new creator who combines freshness in the eye with a unique aesthetic point of view, simple and essential.

As the graphic designer notes:

“This year’s visual identity of the 47th International Drama Short Film Festival (DISFF) draws inspiration from film frames. Using scenes from two films by great Greek directors to whom there will be a special tribute (A life I remember you leaving by Frida Liappa and A place in the sun by Konstantinos Giannaris), a visual language is created that is a tribute to their work.

Guided by the festival logo, the photos on the posters are created from small squares, thus incorporating the central aesthetic of the logo into the entire identity. The choice of different shapes in the background of the posters, symbolizes the frames, the development as well as the different ways of interpretation of the films by the audience, thus highlighting the dynamic nature of cinema.

In digital applications (website, social media) the images pass through the geometric shapes, creating a unique effect that enhances the sense of movement and the succession of frames. The typography is simple and dynamic, offering the necessary elements without distracting from the central visual message. The texts are placed with precision and balance, giving clarity and directness to the message.”
