At the beginning of the council meeting held on Thursday afternoon, the mayor of the municipality Ausma Miškinienė read 3 statements. The members of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party elected to the Lazdijai district municipal council indicated in their statements that they will work in the council in the working groups of the parties they represent.
The members of the Christian Union announced that they will work in the opposition in the municipal council, and the leader of the opposition will be council member Artūras Margelis. Vilma Danauskienė and the representative of the Party of Regions of Lithuania Albinas Žymančius will also work in the opposition together with the Christian Union. So, now the opposition officially has 8 members of the council.
During the meeting, issues of formation of the management team of the district municipality and council committees were discussed.
The Council has determined 7 positions of civil servants of political (personal) trust of the mayor of the municipality of Lazdijai district. These are the director of administration, two vice mayors, two advisers to the mayor and two secretaries of council meetings.
Since the council does not need to approve the personnel of the municipal administration director, the mayor’s decree is sufficient for that, so the new director Sonata Dumbliauskienė will start work already this week.
At the council meeting, a decision was made regarding the deputation of the mayor of the Lazdijai district municipality: municipal council member Jurgita Kurauskienė was appointed as the deputy mayor of Lazdijai district municipal council, and if she is unable to perform these duties, municipal council member Ilona Šaparauskienė was appointed.
The council unanimously approved the candidacy of Daliaus Mockevičius for the position of vice mayor of the Lazdijai district municipality submitted by the mayor of the municipality, Ausmas Miškinienė. Until now, he served as the head of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the district municipality administration.
The opposition also supported the candidacy of D. Mockevičius. The leader of the opposition, A. Margelis, was happy that D. Mockevičius, a native of Krosno, will be the vice mayor.
“I know the Mockevičius family very well, both of Dalius’ parents were Lithuanian teachers, and Dalius’ father was a school director. This is a really cultured and intelligent family, and Dalius is an excellent specialist, so I am very happy that he will be vice mayor”, said A. Margelis.
By the decision of the council, 5 committees of the municipal council of Lazdijai district were formed. They will work in:
- In the Education, Culture, Tourism and Sports Committee: Jurgita Kurauskienė, Rimas Kauzonas, Mantas Valukonis, Gintautas Salatka, Jonas Stankevičius.
- In the Rural Affairs and Environmental Protection Committee: Benius Rūtelionis, Ričardas Dulskas, Deivydas Palačionis.
- Territorial planning and economy committee: Evaldas Brusokas, Sigita Lenauskienė, Saulius Petrauskas, Vilma Danauskienė.
- In the Health Protection and Social Affairs Committee: Jūratė Juodzevičienė, Nijolė Jurčiukonienė, Arūnas Vaišnoras, Odeta Lenkauskienė.
- In the Budget, Property and Investment Committee: Ilona Šaparauskienė, Audrius Klejus, Rimantas Pileckas, Artūras Margelis, Albinas Žymančius.
In the near future, committee meetings will be convened, where committee chairmen will be elected.
A decision was made to delegate Ausma Miškinienė, representative of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania” to the convention of representatives of the Lithuanian Association of Municipalities, for the duration of the municipal council’s mandate, and to elect for the same period the council members Jurgita Kurauskienė (Democratic Union “For Lithuania”) and Artūras Margeli ( Christian Union).
Jūratė Juodzevičienė, a member of the district municipal council, has been delegated to represent the Lazdijai district municipal council in the board of observers of the Vilnius territorial hospital fund and in the collegium of the Alytus regional development council.
On the agenda of the council was the issue of reimbursements for travel to work for medical workers, but it was postponed by consensus to the next meeting of the council.
