Madrid, Jan 20 (EFE).- The president of the Generalitat, the socialist Ximo Puig, has stated that the withdrawal of the covid passport in the Valencian Community is not being considered at this time, on the grounds that he believes that said document has a positive effect once morest the health pandemic and that favors economic activity.

Speaking to journalists at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), in Madrid, the Valencian president was asked regarding the intention of Catalonia and Cantabria to remove the covid passport and replied that “that decision is not planned”.

Puig has recalled that the virus “is still among us” and has stressed that the covid passport “has meant a positive exercise for vaccination”, which he believes is the most effective instrument in the pandemic.

“The passport has also served to provide more security in the premises and has been positive in economic terms” since “the communities that have had it have obtained better results in the tourism sector.”

The head of the Valencian Consell has commented that “some decisions have to be made at all times” before reiterating that it is currently “in the midst of a pandemic and there are a large number of infections”.
