The USB-C port would land (finally) on the iPhone 15, the Lightning in the trash

The arrival of the long-awaited USB-C port on the iPhone is becoming clearer. According to Apple analysts and specialists, the iPhone 15 would become the first iPhone to offer such connectivity. We would therefore say goodbye to the Lightning port and this promises a lot of improvements for the next Apple flagship.

It was the now famous insider Ming-Chi Kuo who shared the information on Twitter. And generally, when he speaks, we listen to him with intention as his predictions have often turned out to be correct. Suddenly, when the latter announces that Apple will adopt the USB-C port in 2023, everyone in tech trembles.

« My latest survey indicates that the new iPhone of 2023 will abandon the Lightning port and switch to USB-C port« he writes, before adding that “USB-C might improve iPhone transfer and charging speed in hardware designs, but final specification details are still dependent on iOS support. So it looks like Apple gave in European pressure to adopt a universal charger for all smartphones.

It’s a fact, smartphones that offer a USB-C port are more popular. For example, custom iPhones equipped with such a port have hit the web. Apple would therefore have decided to comply with public expectations. « Apple’s current USB-C ecosystem vendors are expected to become central market players in the next 1-2 years« ajout Ming-Chi Kuo.

But we must still be careful because several rumors contradict each other. Indeed, some claim that USB-C will arrive as soon as the iPhone 14 Pro is released. Others say Apple would prioritize going 100% wireless before moving to USB-C. It only remains to wait but one thing seems certain: USB-C will arrive one day or another on Apple devices.
