After the French presidential election, won by Emmanuel Macron to the detriment of Marine Le Pen, it is the legislative elections that are now on everyone’s lips. And following the various political speeches on May Day, agreements have already been made between several parties.
Indeed, La France Insoumise has entered into agreements with the PS and Europe Ecologie-Les-Vert (EELV). The left is therefore indeed gathering in order to beat Emmanuel Macron on June 12 and also block the road to the National Rally of Marine Le Pen.
But not everyone sees this rapprochement in a good light. What poses a problem is the support that Jean-Luc Mélenchon has repeatedly shown to Vladimir Poutine and Russia. In this conflict, the leader LFI believes that it is not the Russians but the Americans who have the cap of the aggressor.
Independent journalist Marion Van Renterghem posted a video on Twitter recalling the many times since 2014 that Jean-Luc Mélenchon has publicly shown his support for the Russians.
In December 2021, on the set of France Inter, Jean-Luc Mélenchon commented on the Russian invasion in Ukraine in this way: “For me, Russia is not an adversary but a partner”. At the end of January 2022, he outbid: “I consider that it is the USA which is in an aggressive position”. In February, he confirmed “without a doubt” that NATO was the aggressor. “The United States does not have to annex Ukraine into NATO”.
