White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki communicated this Monday that US President Joe Biden will issue an executive order that “will prohibit new investment, trade and financing by Americans” towards the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
“These measures stand alone and would be in addition to the swift and harsh economic measures that we have been preparing in coordination with allies and partners in the event that Russia invades Ukraine,” the official said.
This Monday the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, reported during a message to the nation of his decision to “immediately recognize the independence and sovereignty” of Donetsk and Luhansk.
