Ned Price noted that they respect the decisions made regarding the interim government.
The United States said on Tuesday that it respects the decision of the 2015 Venezuelan National Assembly to abolish the interim government that the Joe Biden administration has recognized Juan Guaidó as interim president.
“In terms of our approach to Nicolás Maduro, our approach has not changed. He is illegitimate. We support the 2015 National Assembly as the only vestige of democracy in Venezuela,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price at a press conference.
“The 2015 National Assembly has renewed its mandate, it has made its decisions and we respect and will respect the decisions it makes,” he explained.
When asked regarding the resources frozen abroad, he pointed out “the members of the AN (from 2015) are discussing among themselves how they will supervise these assets abroad and we will continue to hold talks with them.”
