The US Senate asks Sony for exclusive contracts for the PS

Activision and Microsoft continue to make progress in their joint venture, while Sony grapples with questions raised by Senator Kevin Cramer regarding its position in the console market, as well as deals struck in recent years.

Senator Cramer sent a letter to Sony’s CEO raising concerns regarding the company’s exclusivity deals, in an effort to protect his market position. As a result, the US senator has requested that he be made aware of all exclusivity agreements made over the years for the distribution of games in the PlayStation ecosystem.

PlayStation exclusive contracts revealed

This request refers to all contracts mentioned by Microsoft in the previous months, including Final Fantasy VII Remake, Bloodborne and many others. Cramer asked to receive unedited versions of these documents, as well as information on certain Sony business initiatives, such as the recent acquisition of Bungie.

Activision and Microsoft are in the process of receiving government approval for their corporate merger. Over the past few months, this merger has been the subject of a lot of news and rumors, including significant allegations from Microsoft regarding Sony’s exclusivity agreements.
