The american delegation who will attend this Sunday the inauguration of the elected president, Gustavo Petro, has already arrived in Colombia.
The delegation is headed by the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, and arrived in Bogotá this Saturday followingnoon.
The other members of the presidential delegation are Gregory Meeks, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; Francisco Palmieri, Ambassador (e) of the United States in Colombia; Desirée Cormier Smith, Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice of the Department of State; Y Juan González, Special Assistant to President Biden and Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
“Welcome to Bogota! @RepGregoryMeeks, Cormier Smith, @Cartajuanero and I just landed for the Opening of @petrogustavo and @FranciaMarquezM. Eager to support efforts to combat inequality, implement the peace agreement, and protect the environment,” the US Embassy wrote on its Twitter account.
In Colombia, for the possession of the president-elect, Gustavo Petro, next August 7, are already the vice president of the Republic of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa; the former president of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo; the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selakovi; the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seved Mohammad Hosseini; Honduran President Xiomara Castro and Argentine President Alberto Fernandez and their Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero; Mario Abdo president of Paraguay and Silvana López first lady of Paraguay and Guillermo Lasso, president of Ecuador among others.
A few hours following his inauguration, the president-elect has concentrated on meeting with other important world leaders. In the morning held talks with the presidents of ECLAC and CAF.
