The US Congress approved a large aid package for Ukraine

The measure is part of a package of security assistance bills for a number of Washington’s allies, including Israel and Taiwan, worth more than $95 billion.

Ukraine will be allocated almost $61 billion from these funds. When voting on the bill, 311 votes were cast for and 112 once morest. It is assumed that Kyiv will receive weapons and other assistance necessary for the Ukrainian army to repel Russian aggression.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky welcomed the results of the vote in Washington, emphasizing that its outcome “will save thousands and thousands of lives.” “We hope that the bills will be supported in the Senate and sent to President Biden’s desk. Thank you, America,” Zelensky wrote on the X social network.

In total, the package that House members voted on Saturday included four bills, all of which passed with broad bipartisan support – despite strong objections from some of the most conservative Republicans. Next, the package of documents will go to the Senate for voting, where, unlike the House of Representatives, the Democrats have a majority. The Senate is expected to approve the aid next week and send the documents to President Joe Biden for signature.

The head of the White House has already called on senators to send the law to him for signature as soon as possible.

In connection with the passage of the aid package for Ukraine, it is noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson earlier this week decided to ignore threats of resignation from several members of the Republican Party and bring the issue to a vote.
