Washington: The US rejected the accusation that it or its ally Israel was behind the terrorist attack in Iran that killed around 100 people. “The U.S. has no role in this blast.” Allegations to the contrary are ludicrous. “We have no evidence before us to believe that Israel was involved,” US Interior spokesman Matthew Miller said at a press conference on Wednesday.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby also said that the United States had no indication that Israel was behind the blast. Matthew Miller also expressed his condolences to the victims and their loved ones who were killed in the terror attack.

The terrorist attack that shocked the world was during the martyrdom anniversary ceremony of General Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian military, who was killed in a US drone strike four years ago. Iranian Minister of Health Dr. Bahram Aynullah said. Earlier there was a report that 103 people were killed. More than 200 people were injured. Many of them are in serious condition.

In the southern city of Kirman, the explosion first occurred near the Sahib al-Zaman mosque among people marching to the grave in protest. After 10 minutes the bomb exploded once more among the retreating people. Tasnim news agency reported that the assailants had detonated two briefcases filled with explosives placed at the entrance of the cemetery by remote control. The first explosion caused more casualties.

Kirman security chief Rahman Jalali, who accused the attack of terrorism, did not specify who was behind it. No one claimed responsibility for the blast. As Israel continues its offensive in Palestine and neighboring Lebanon, the massive explosion that killed many people is intensifying the concern that the conflict in the region will reach a new level.

In 2020, Qasim Soleimani was killed in a US drone attack in Iraq. Quds Force chief Qassem Soleimani was one of the most influential figures in Iran following Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

The massive blasts that rocked the country near the famous Gulzar Shuhada in Kirman came amid thousands of people attending a memorial service. Gulzar Shuhada is the place where 1024 martyrs are buried. Kianush Jahanpour, a former spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Health, said that the response to the attack would be in Tel Aviv and Haifa.

The incident comes shortly following Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Aruri was killed in a drone strike in Beirut.
