A California-born pair of twins marked an unusual milestone: Their birthdays fall in different years.
Alfredo Antonio Trujillo He was born at 11:45 p.m. local time on December 31.
His sister Aylin Yolanda Trujillo It arrived just 15 minutes later, at the stroke of midnight, when it was already January 1, 2022.
Her mother, Fatima Madrigal, says she finds it “crazy” that her twins have different birth dates.
And in a statement she expressed being “surprised and happy” that her newborn arrived at midnight, becoming the first baby to be born at the local hospital in 2022.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), twin births occur 120,000 times a year in the United States (They account for regarding 3% of all births).
The Natividad Medical Center – the Salinas hospital where the babies were born – estimates that the probability of twins being born in different years is one in two million.
A doctor at the health center described the birth of the Trujillos as “undoubtedly one of the most memorable births” of her career.
“It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones to reach the world safely in 2021 and 2022,” said Dr. Ana Abril Arias.
The first baby, Alfredo, weighed regarding 2.8 kg and his sister Aylin regarding 2.4 kg.
The couple have three other older brothers.
