The Unsolved Mystery of the Submarine “Titan” Lost en route to the Titanic: Exploring the Possible Scenarios and Conspiracy Theories

Mystery still surrounds the fate of the submarine “Titan” and the reasons that led to its loss while it was on its way to the ship “Titanic”.

A report by the British newspaper “Daily Mail” shed light on the possible scenarios of what happened to the submarine, and the reasons behind its disappearance:

energy loss

According to Associate Professor Eric Fossell, Director of the Shipbuilding Center at the University of Adelaide, Australia, the loss of energy on Titan means the loss of communications.

“Some submarines have two sources of power, electricity and others such as compressed air or hydraulics, to operate the safety systems,” Fossell explained. “It is unclear whether power backup options in the event of a malfunction are present on Titan.”

Submarine fire

If any of the short circuits on board the submarine were to experience an overvoltage, a fire could break out.

This could destroy the submarine’s communication systems and create toxic fumes for passengers, according to Fossil.

Professor Stephen Williams, from the Australian Center for Robotics at the University of Sydney, said: “Another possibility is that there could be a fire caused by a short circuit. This could damage the submarine’s electronic systems that are used for navigation and control.”

Leakage or implosion

Submarines face increasing pressure the deeper they dive, and even a small leak can be catastrophic at great depths.

Fossil explained that at a depth of 4,000 meters, a mass of 4,000 tons would be applied to an area the size of one square meter.

He continued, “Titan has a composite structure with inbuilt sensors and sensors that can withstand such pressure, but it requires a very precise circular shape. Any defect outside the circle can lead to an almost instantaneous implosion.”

Back to the surface

It is possible that Titan returned to the surface but failed to contact the support ship.

Research teams are scouring the area but Dr Simon Boxall, an oceanographer at the University of Southampton, told BBC News. “If it’s on the surface, there’s likely to be a connection.”

Stuck in the wreck of the Titanic

Strong underwater currents may have pushed the submarine so close to the Titanic that it stuck to or became entangled with its wreckage.
