The United States has recorded more than 20,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox, according to the latest data from the country’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As of Tuesday, a total of 20,733 cases of monkeypox have already been reported across the country, CDC data showed.
With 3,833 cases, the state of California has the highest number of cases. It is followed by the states of New York (3,526 cases) and Florida (2,126 cases), according to CDC data.
So far, the United States is the country with the highest number of cases of monkeypox in the world.
The Biden administration has been criticized for its response to the outbreak, including its failure to order enough vaccines, expedite treatments and distribute testing to counter the outbreak.
“Whether in terms of vaccination or communication, the White House’s efforts to combat the monkeypox virus have been consistent failures,” a recent Bloomberg article said.
