The United States fell in the final against Mexico in the World Cup; also lost top scorer

A night to forget for Keylor Figueroa and the United States, following Mexico defeated the North American team 3-1 in the final of the Under-17 World Cup at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores stadium in Guatemala.

The Aztecs came out with everything to defend their undefeated record and win their championship. Mexico took the lead with a goal by Stephano Carrillo (10′) from the penalty spot, Luis Navarrete (51′) scored the second. The North Americans closed the gap with a score by Pedro Soma (69′), but Mexico ended the game with another penalty at 90+2 at the feet of Isaac Camacho.

The Mexicans demonstrated their ability and talent that they maintained throughout the tournament to be crowned undefeated champions of the U-17 World Cup that was played in Guatemala.

Maynor Figueroa’s son played all 90 minutes of the game, but mightn’t get his team to go into overtime or reverse the result.

TOP SCORER

Forwards Stephano Carrillo (Mexico) and Keyrol Figueroa (United States) reached the final with the same scores, seven goals in total.

The final was the decisive match for both and the Mexican Carillo won the battle by scoring the first goal for the Aztecas and with that taking away the top scorer in the U-17 World Cup with 8 goals. Keyrol was left with seven, despite a great tournament played.

TEAMS CLASSIFIED TO THE WORLD CUP

Mexico, the United States, Canada and Panama won the ticket to the U-17 World Cup to be played in Peru, which will be held from November 10 to December 2.
